Pamplin Historical Park begins extended hours in June
Beginning June 28, Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier will be open to the public from 9am until 6pm. The Park will maintain these extended hours until August 10 and then return to the normal hours of 9am until 5pm. Read more >

Pamplin Historical Park’s 12th Annual Civil War Weekend

Pamplin Historical Park and The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier invites history enthusiasts and families alike to the 12th annual Civil War Weekend on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22. Performers, demonstrations, crafts, games, and music bring the Civil War era to life for visitors of all ages! At this year’s event, visitors can experience tactical, artillery, and small arms demonstrations.

Commemoration pre-dawn tour of the Breakthrough at Petersburg
On April 2, 1865 in the early morning mist, General Grant gave the order for the Union army to advance on the Confederate defenses at Petersburg. In the assault of more than 14,000 Union soldiers, General Lee’s lines of defense were broken, forcing the Confederate army to evacuate Petersburg and Richmond. Civil War Santa Visits Pamplin Historical Park, Nov 23 & Dec 15
Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier invites visitors to get into the holiday spirit with a 19th century-inspired Santa Claus. Guests can have their photograph taken with a Santa Claus dressed in 1860s costume from 10am to noon and 1pm to 4pm on Friday, Nov. 23, and Saturday, Dec. 15. Pamplin Historical Park now offers map of Petersburg area Battlefields
Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier now offers visitors a detailed map of the Petersburg Campaign. Commissioned by Trailhead Graphics, the map is a guide to historic and modern features that commemorate the Petersburg area Civil War battlefields. The map details such locations as Five Forks Battlefield, Reams Station Battlefield, the Eastern and Western Fronts, Pamplin Historical Park, and Grant’s Headquarters at City Point. It also indicates Virginia Civil War Trail Sites, locations of earthworks, monuments, markers, and visitor centers around the Petersburg area as well as other Civil War points of interest. Pamplin Historical Park presents Sharpshooters Weekend
Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier will host more than thirty costumed historians representing the men of Confederate Major General A.P. Hill’s Third Corps. The volunteers from the Princess Anne Grey’s (Lee’s Sharpshooters) will perform a variety of programs as part of Sharpshooters Weekend on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23. Read more >
