In today’s P-I, DPI President Joe Tedesco communicates that DPI is alive, busy with the tasks of searching for a new Exec. Director, searching for a new office, and identifying its scope of project focus (named: beautification of Old Towne, Halifax Triangle; R/UDAT; Army Community Heritage Partnership).

The purpose of the Halifax Jazz & Blues festival is to celebrate the jazz & blues musical heritage of the Halifax Triangle and to energize the revitalization of our downtown community. The festival will feature a variety of jazz and blues musical groups to include guitarist Zach Artis, who will also provide guitar instruction for children, the BET award-winning rhythm & blues group A Touch of Charm, smooth jazz guitarist Jim Adkins, blues pianist and composer Roddy Barnes, the David Chambliss Quartet, blues & jazz saxophonist Mike Redman, blues & jazz vocalist Evelyn Quaye, gospel jazz artist Randy Nelson, Mike Elliot, Boss Pee, David Ruddock, Karaoke By Angela, DJ Monday Nite Mike, and more.

Downtown Petersburg, Inc. announces that plans are moving forward for the Halifax Jazz & Blues Festival 2008 on the Historic Halifax St. South Ave. Harrison St. Triangle. The event will be held on May 3rd and 4th and anticipates having as great an impact as last year. DPI and city officials have reached a mutual agreement to support this event in order to provide entertainment and education about the rich historical and cultural significance of this section of Petersburg.
