Blandford Cemetery will be hosting All Hallow’s Eve tours Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-9:30. The hour-long tours will leave the Reception Center every 15 minutes. Reservations are required. For more info, call Petersburg Visitors Center, 733.2400.

On October 6, 2007 the Ft. Lee Army Band will play at the Bandstand at Blandford Cemetery’s Memorial Hill, from 3:30-4:30pm. This will be preceded by a choice of short tours of sections of the cemetery. Towards the end of the concert there will be a short ceremony during which a flag will be raised over the plaques dedicated to the veterans of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. This is a free event. Petersburg National Battlefield will host two feature events this summer: 1) Earthworks 2007, a summer camp for children that includes activities such as learning to use a map and compass or learning how to test water quality (while catching crawdads!); 2) Homefront 2007, a series of 10 interpretive programs at various sites in Petersburg (including Blandford Cemetary, Historic Petersburg Courthouse, and First Baptist Church) that run the gamut from formal talks to walking tours.
