Woah - just google mapped that and it’s about 2 blocks from our place. =(

Uh, try having it happen right next to your house! Never fear, folks, we and Harper Lee are fine. Channel 12 HAS been out interviewing fellow residents this morning.

I thought that when I google mapped it. Glad to hear all are well. Saw follow up story with the mother this morning on the news.

“She didn’t remember that Domino’s doesn’t even deliver to our neighborhood.”

Hey now - they have delivered quite a number of Brooklyn Style pizza’s to my house! Then again, I know when in Richmond, they would deliver to one side of Semmes Ave. but, wouldn’t come the block in to deliver to me so…..I guess it’s possible *shrug*

I am glad to see that she was able to escape this situation. But also these young people need to pay close attention to theit surroundings. Not just the young people all people.

I read the article. The man doesn’t sound like a sexual predator. He sounds like a “talent scout.”

The only thing that makes me think he could be a predator is that he was working alone.

Unfortuately, these kind of abductions happen EVERYWHERE. Thank goodness the girl was strong-willed.

If you are going to abduct someone, why do it with a pizza sign on the roof of your car? Something seems fishy…or maybe anchovy-ish. Glad she got away from the pizza schmuck.

  9. posted by Cliff Davis at July 22, 2008 2:27 pm :

The pizza sign would seem to be an easy way to eliminate suspicion for a strange driver cruising slowly through a neighborhood and scanning the area.

Wow. There have been additional attempted abductions in the area since the one on Brandon St.

Per the P-I, there was an attempt involving two men trying to abduct two young girls (the men were arrested), and most recently, a 10-yr-old boy was being forced into a white van when a neighbor came out and confronted the driver. About the van: “a white Ford work van with a green stripe on the side built between 1975-79. The license plate is a variance of KCL-7413 or something similar. The van had “Richmond” in black lettering on the left rear, and an orange ladder on a roof rack.”
