Not sure where person who prepared the agenda is coming up with a Compensation Board approved funding for the Clerk of only $64,800. Unless maybe that’s on top of their approved FY09 Budget:
Salaries with Estimated Fringe:
Clerk: $108,317
ACD: $44,990
DCII: 2 @ $28,847
DCI: 2 @ $23,595
DCI: 3@ $23,077
They have no state funding for temporary/part-time salary, office expenses, or equipment expenses but, their total approved salary (w/ estimated fringe) budget is $327,404.
Sidenote - Nothing on the Comp Board’s Docket minutes (April or May) from the Comp. Board about new or additional funding for Clerk.
Would this be the position of the city council clerk who is out on medical leave? If so, would this be the same clerk’s position that will be filled by our city manager during said clerk’s absence? Surely our city manager is not to receive financial compensation for taking on this responsibility and surely that does not account for the uncertainty in the aforementioned budget item … oh, this makes my head hurt.
Once upon a time in Dirtyburg, the land of the misfits, there was corruption and mismanagement of funds.
Anybody could have done something about it, and everybody thought that somebody would carry the investigative efficiency report to a fitting and just conclusion.
Alas, anybody, everybody, and somebody became embroiled in bickering, finger pointing, name calling and divisivenes, thereby making possible the escape of the perpetrators of benign neglect and malignant cronyism. Leaving nobody the wiser of us all.
On that point… and this would be rhetorical…have folks asked their Council reps if they’ve turned in the paperwork required by the consultants to conduct their analysis (paperwork that was due LAST YEAR)? If the answer is ‘no’, have folks urged their reps to get that paperwork done post haste? To my knowledge, only two of the reps have submit this paperwork.
The only clerk mentioned in the minutes is Circuit Court Clerk. It appears that they have to pass a resolution to pass through the state funds that go to that position.
yet we wonder why things never get done here in Petersburg
MaryJane,
This is the Clerk of the Circuit Court, not the Clerk for the City Council. The Comp. Board wouldn’t give State Funds for the Council’s administrative staff - sorry for the confusion.
Don’t worry though….governmental bookkeeping is enough to make many peoples heads spin.
For item #1, could I get an explanation of the alphabet soup? I assume they are abbreviations for job titles?
Yes, they are job titles
Clerk = Circuit Court Clerk
ACD = Assistant Chief Deputy Clerk
DCI = Deputy Clerk I
DCII = Deputy Clerk II
