Pamplin Historical Park’s 12th Annual Civil War Weekend

12th Annual Civil War Weekend

Pamplin Historical Park and The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier invites history enthusiasts and families alike to the 12th annual Civil War Weekend on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22.  Performers, demonstrations, crafts, games, and music bring the Civil War era to life for visitors of all ages!  At this year’s event, visitors can experience tactical, artillery, and small arms demonstrations.

Visitors have the opportunity to participate in various games and attend educational programs at Civil War Weekend. Guests may participate in an 1860s baseball game, and learn how the rules have changed. Witness a mortar-firing competition between Union and Confederate re-enactors.  Learn how communication and medicine have drastically changed by exploring telegraphs and 19th-century medical procedures. Enjoy Civil War-era music by The 97th Regimental String Band. Meet David Jones, author of “Two Brothers,” a book about the Prentiss brothers who fought on opposite sides during “The Breakthrough Battle” of April 2, 1865. Other activities include blacksmith demonstrations, laser tag, crafts, and a puppet show.

The Park’s daily general admission prices, $15.00 for adults, $13.50 for military w/ID and seniors 62 +, and $9.00 for children ages 6-12, include admission to Civil War Weekend.  The Park is open from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.  All activities associated with the two-day event will take place at the Park’s Hart Farm events area off Duncan Road, Route 670.

One of “Virginia’s Best Places to Visit” according to the Travel Channel, and designated as a National Historic Landmark, Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier is a 422-acre Civil War campus located in Dinwiddie County, Virginia offering a combination of high-tech museums and hands-on experiences.  The Park has four world-class museums, four antebellum homes and costumed living history every day.  The Park is also the site of The Breakthrough Battlefield of April 2, 1865 and America’s premiere participatory experience, Civil War Adventure Camp.
