Bark park? - updates

There’s been a very insightful meeting with the folks at Barker Field in the spirit of not reinventing the wheel, Leonard Muse of the Planning Dept. has agreed to pull together the appropriate city services reps to discuss siting once infrastructure needs are nailed down, and along the same lines the Willcox Watershed Conservancy has agreed to discuss the possibility of siting a dog park within the perimeters of Lee Memorial Park when their nascent Site Committee is up and running. For more details, check out the files and posts at what is currently called the Petersburg Dog Park yahoo group.

Wonderful! Lee Park will thrive when we convince everyone in the city that they have a stakeholder’s interest in it — whether for flora, fauna or even Fido.

    RANT WARNING!

This was the only appropriate place that I could think of.

If your dog uses the bathroom in someone else’s yard…..FRICKIN’ PICK IT UP! I don’t know (right now but I intend to look into it) if there are laws against that crap — literally — here in PBurg like there are in Richmond but if your dog does a #2 on someone’s property - clean the #$@% up!

I’m getting REALLY tired of one of our neighbors who every morning, afternoon, and evening opens her front door so that their dog can roam the street picking a spot (never in her own yard) to use the bathroom. I clean up after my own 3 dogs be it in my yard or when they are walked. I damn sure don’t need to be cleaning up after some lazy wanker’s pet.

Mowing my front lawn and stepping in unexpected poo is not fun! I think the next time said dog uses my yard as his latrine; I’m going to politely use my pooper scooper to return the gift to his owner’s yard! Maybe they’ll start putting the dog out in their back yard like we do or just being a CONSIDERATE pet owner and clean the crap up!

    R-A-W-R!

    RANT OFF!
