Police Dept’s Community Noteworthies - May

Occasionally the local police forward ‘Community Noteworthy’ reports. I’ve been thinking about how to present them without the site being dominated by such posts, and have decided to make a post for each calendar month under which I’ll beam up incomings every few days under the appropriate month in the comments. At least until a better idea is suggested or otherwise comes to mind.

Disclaimer: The following incidents are preliminary in nature and are subject to change after investigation. Please note that the entries listed below do not cover every incident from overnight. The listings are subject to the judgment of staff officers’ sense of what is noteworthy.

An this incident didn’t make the Progress-Index or the Richmond paper? Beating & shooting people? Makes one wonder how much crime news is suppressed in Petersburg. How much we don’t know about.

We are going to have some problems:

Diminishing resourses for the jobless in petersburg will spark competition among criminals, creating violence, and a “diversifing” of their activities.

The “new sheriff in town” effect in richmond will drive those who do not know how to be anything else than a criminal to less well-policed areas, like petersburg.

These are two reasons why we need to step up support for our police dept.
