before/after on West Bank Street

There being a boatload of new photos in the Petersburg Flickr pool, lots of before/after stories are starting to emerge. Here’s just one:

This house was on the Work Places and Living Spaces Tour last April:

The property was acquired in November 2006 and restoration began immediately. Completion is targeted for this spring. The edifice is being converted for a private residence with office space in the basement. The three-floor structure will feature a deck and kitchen spanning Brickhouse Run with grating that will allow you to view the water below. The building was constructed in 1836, burned in 1851 and rebuilt. Originally a newspaper print shop, it was home to “The Petersburg Intelligencer” from 1836–1854. Most recently the structure was occupied by Rick’s Thermogenics, a dietary supplement supply company. Renovation surprises are evidence that the structure was not completely destroyed by the fire, hidden heart pine flooring and beautiful stonework in the basement.

Both photos by F33.

The build-out over the Brickhouse Run was inspired. Can’t wait to see the finished interior at a future Work Places Living Spaces tour.

OMG! We saw this house on the architechtural (sp? it’s late and I’m tired) history tour we went on with HPF. They didn’t specifically address this property but when I saw the side…over the creek…I was in LOVE. It is tres awesome!!!

It looks beautiful! I’ve been away, but when I was home in petersburg, I helped paint it!

Just to add, this house is owned and be renovated by Terry Ammons, a local Architect.
