April exhibit at Petersburg Area Art League
The Petersburg Area Art League announces its upcoming April 2008 exhibit. PAAL will feature the work of Russian born artist, Marina Galuszka, in an exhibit called “Subconscious Playthings”.
The April show will include 20 or more paintings and one quilt. Most of the paintings will be mixed media in acrylic and oil that will combine some aspects of collage and encaustic medium. The quilt is made of silk with some embroidery. All of the works explore the subconscious memory of youthful play with toys and games evoking the artist’s childhood in Russia.
The artist, Marina Galuszka, enjoys painting and working in mixed-media. She is an art teacher at an independent school in Chesterfield County and has a B.S. in art education from Case Western Reserve University and has studied at The Surikov Institute of Art in Moscow and the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Subconsious Playthings opens with a reception on Friday, April 11th, from 6 to 10 PM. The reception is free and open to the public.
The show will be on display through Sunday, May 4th.

The strong graphic edge of leading color value, as well as the abstraction of form, flattened plane and mysterious context,, lead viewers into a realm of half-remembered dreamscape. We want to know more but our feelings tell us that we do.
