Meeting on proposed demolition

From the folks at Historic Petersburg Foundation: HPF’s History Committee Chairman, Bob Kennedy recently learned that Ft. Lee plans to demolish the Davis House to make room for another unit coming to post. As you may know, the Davis House is the only extant structure from WWI Camp Lee, and was built from 1915-1917.

A public meeting will be held on Thursday, March 13, from 7-9 pm, at the Quartermaster Museum on the base. Information will be presented on boards around the room, and comment cards and computers will be available for the public to make comments.

If you can’t attend, written comments can be addressed by mail to Carol Anderson, Environmental Management Office, 1816 Shop Rd., Fort Lee, VA 23801-1604 or by email.

The Garrison Commander, COL Gwen Bingham, will make the final decision on this proposed expansion of the 49th Quartermaster Group. Please attend the meeting if you can to voice your concerns.
