Out with the purple awning, in with the arched windows
(This is an updated version of a post that was lost during last month’s site meltdown…) Thanks to Joe and Beth Battiston, the NW corner of Sycamore and Washington is getting a facelift. Check out the updated set of photos below.
Revealed: old adverts on brick

To put the above in context…
Here’s a “before”:
Here’s a “today”:

And check out all those amazing windows!:

Another very, very good sign of the turn-around for Petersburg. Huzzahs!
And here’s a “tonight” — the yellow, orange, green window covering was pulled back to reveal the ‘Faces of Old Towne’:
Well Done to all those who are Turning the Tide in Petersburg, Its nice too see our Areas Historic Past Come out from under what can only be described as a scar on the Beautiful Face, that is this Great City. Kudos too all for there Efforts!!!
For more about the ‘Faces in Old Towne’ — look for details in Sunday’s Progress Index, tomorrow’s (Friday’s) Richmond Times Dispatch, and April’s Richmond Magazine.
I’ve already praised the owners of the building. The fast turnaround can be partially credited to the work of E.B. washington, who does good, solid work at a fair price. I have some experience with the guy, and, beleive me, it’s worth it to hire him and his crew over the “cheaper” random “labor” around here claiming.
E.B. Washington: Fair and Hardworking.
Exterior, August 2008:
And not to neglect the old Rose Drug Store’s neighbors:
i have to praise E.B Washinton for his hard work at a fare price.
i hired him to do work on my building and he did great.
i even hired him for a second job.
its great to see the old buildings look new again.
been a long time.
I agree about Mr. Washington. A real mensch.
Glad to see you have a new truck.
