Tour a kitchen to build a kitchen
Pathways will be hosting Petersburg’s first annual home kitchen tour on March 16 from 1-5pm. The event will showcase seven beautiful kitchens from homes across downtown Petersburg, with styles ranging from Old World to Ultra Modern. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 on the day of the tour.
Pathways is a non-profit community development corporation serving Petersburg, Virginia. One of Pathways’ programs is an alternative school where young adults can get valuable training on the road to getting a GED or vocational certification. The kitchen tour event will raise funds for the organization’s own commercial kitchen, which will be used as a training ground for young adults wishing to enter the food service industry. Hence, the event’s slogan – “Tour a Kitchen to Build a Kitchen.”
Attendees will tour seven of downtown Petersburg’s most spectacular kitchens in historic homes like Strawberry Hill Mansion and La Villa Romaine Bed and Breakfast. In addition, kitchen tour ticket holders will have access to a wine tasting at Old Towne Market Place, and a food tasting at the Bistro at Market & Grove.
Pathways’ unfinished commercial kitchen at 1200 W. Washington St. will also be open to ticket holders during the tour. Pathways will provide refreshments and hold a drawing for door prizes at 5:30.
