A Walk with Heros - Stories from and about 9/11 “First Responders”
The Historic Petersburg Foundation and the City of Petersburg proudly present nationally recognized artist and humanitarian, Henry Kidd, at Union Train Station, Thursday March 6, 7pm. Mr. Kidd’s artistic talents cover two icons of America in Tragedy - The War Between the States and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. His presentation captures the emotion and tells the stories of the “First Responders” at the 9/11 site who risked their lives to save others. You will hear what few have from the context of his role in capturing the tragic history that unfolded on that fateful day.
The Virginia General Assembly, with a Joint House and Senate Resolution, recognized Mr. Kidd for his artwork and efforts in aiding the victims of 9/11. The Daughters of the American Revolution presented him with the National Citizen Award for his work to aid the September 11th victims. Mr. Kidd received a National Red Cross Award for his Desert Storm artwork, which raised thousands of dollars for our fighting forces and their families. In 2002, he was invited to speak and participate in an international peace conference in Switzerland.
His art work is on display in many museums including the Virginia Historical Society, the Museum of the Confederacy and at West Point.
Please join us for an exciting presentation by Henry Kidd and learn about the brave “First Responders” in New York City! Prints of some of his 9/11 artwork will be available for purchase at this event. Several fire engines will be on display including two that date back to the 1900’s.
