Community forum on “Supplemental Educational Services”

If your child attends a Title I school in the Petersburg City Public School Division, then he or she is eligible for free tutoring. The Harding Area Neighborhood Association and the Community Independent Action Coalition is sponsoring a community forum entitled “Supplemental Educational Services (SES), What is it and what does it do?” Jan. 17 at Tabernacle Baptist Church Community Life Center, beginning at 6:30pm.

In attendence will be Mrs. Shirley Shaw-Parent Coordinator/PASS Coordinator-Title 1 office-Petersburg Public Schools.

Come meet SES Providers, ask questions and possibly enroll your child.

Refreshments will be served.

For more information contact Linwood K. Christian at 804-861-4688/804-467-7213.

I don’t believe all Title I schools are SES eligible. A Q&A page on the US Dept. of Education’s website reads as follows:

When are children eligible to receive supplemental educational services?

Students from low-income families who remain in Title I schools that fail to meet state standards for at least three years are eligible to receive supplemental educational services.
