From PPS’ Cliff Davis: “By the end of today, the administration of the Petersburg City Public Schools intends to have new paychecks prepared and delivered, for the approximately 210 employees who do not have direct deposit and, for reasons that are still being investigated, did not receive a check on December 20.”

The letter continues:

“Normally, all school employees are paid on the 15th and again at the end of the month. At the winter break, however, checks are paid early, on December 20th, as a courtesy to employees.

We thank the several members of the Finance Department of the Petersburg City Public Schools who came to work during the winter break to attempt to resolve this concern.

Our administrators are currently discussing ways to prevent a situation like this from occurring again and we will share these ideas when they are finalized.

Our employees are family and we sympathize with them for the inconvenience that this may have caused them.”
