Needs love, and maybe a front wall wouldn’t hurt?
While many historic structures in town could benefit from some TLC, the one at 423 S. Sycamore St. strikes me as especially sad:
From the assessor’s website (aka, back in time machine) is a photo taken before the property’s front wall/porch met their fate:

Yes, I believe a man from richmond bought it for around $40K, which was too much at the time.
Then the hurricane knocked a tree on the house.
I heard the guy took the insurance $$ and let the city take the house.
Well hopefully someone will be inspired by the house down the street and save this one.
I don’t know if something inventive could be done with it being that it needs almost a whole new front wall but that might actually be a selling point for someone.
Inspiration may come if the house down the street sells.
Otherwise, the city should sell the house durn cheap to anyone who promises to fix it to its original state.

This one is gone altogether now.
