The Velveteen Rabbit - starts Friday, and tickets are going fast
The Sycamore Rouge hosts The Velveteen Rabbit, adapted by kb Saine from Margery Williams’ classic childrens’ story, Dec. 7-Dec. 22 — and according to the P-I, some nights are nearly sold out, even with the theater’s newly expanded seating!

Story summary: A young boy cherishes his favorite stuffed animal–a well-loved rabbit–more than anything else. But one day, the rabbit finds himself replaced by a newer, more elaborate toy. With the help of his friends, the Velveteen Rabbit must learn what it means to be “really real,” and discover the mysteries of true love.
This production will pull at your heart strings and is great for the whole family. Tickets are $18 for general admission, $15 for members, and $14 for children under 12.
Music composed by Roddy Barnes.

Cliff Davis’ nice editorial on the Velveteen Rabbit, Sycamore Rouge, and the theatre arts in the region.
I heard that they also be doing a short performance of sorts at Friday for the Arts.
I hear that this show has now sold out *two* matinees. Congrats!
I’d heard for years about the Velveteen Rabbit and only had an impression of a soft possibly sickly sweet kids story.
I’d never read it or seen any of the television/video adaptations.
How pleasant it was to find myself at Sycamore Rouge, entranced, entertained and yes…. big ol’ tough guy that I am, touched.
Go see it… no matter how old or jaded you are.
It will remind you that the important things in life are real.
