New Year’s in Petersburg: Red Light Burlesque & Ball of the Centuries

Holy Cow. This year, the place to be on New Year’s Eve is Old Towne Petersburg. Sycamore Rouge will be bringing back the popular Red Light Burlesque, featuring the Mad Tea Party, Christabel and the Jons, and the Modern Burlesque Brigade’s show “Ballad of a Beautiful Sex Monster.” And if that’s not enough, Old Towne Catering will be hosting Ball of the Centuries, a costume party featuring the Upper East Side Big Band.

The Ball will feature a silent auction, awards for the finest costumes, and recognition for those couples who prove to be lightest on their feet in a dance contest. Sponsored by Old Towne Merchants, all proceeds of the Ball will be used to benefit the promotion of Old Towne Petersburg as a historic, educational, and entertaining destination. Tickets are $150.00 per couple and include an open bar, dinner, and the live music. Adorn yourself in a pre-20th century costume, black tie/gown, or your swankiest party outfit.

Tickets for the Red Light Burlesque are $170.00 per couple and include the full show, a bottle of bubbly, dinner, and dessert.

Anyone know if this is the same Burlesque company that preformed last year?

No, it’s not; Nouvelle Burlesque is a different troupe. I’m told (perhaps eroneously) that this performance may include some of the same members.

Samson Trinh and the Upper East Side Big Band, last year’s AMAZING musical performers, will be down the street at Old Towne Catering.
