Connect Southside hosts “The Impact of Fort Lee’s Growth on the Local Nonprofit Sector: A Community Conversation”

Connect Southside will present an open forum December 6, 2-4pm, at Tabernacle Community Life Center in Petersburg to discuss the impact of Fort Lee’s growth on local and regional nonprofit services.

At this free community conversation, private and public sector leaders will discuss collaborations and response to the impact of the base expansion. “Smart communities talk about change, anticipate it and plan for it,” said Nancy Stutts, founder of Connect Network, which houses Connect Southside. “That’s our purpose with this event, to bring people together to talk about challenges and opportunities.”

The speakers are as follows:

Welcome: Anne Douglas, Program Officer, The Cameron Foundation
Moderator: Dr. Nancy Stutts, Director, Connect Network

Discussants:
KAREN CAMERON - Executive Director/CEO, Central Virginia Health Planning Agency
COLONEL JEFFERY W. FARIES - Chief of Police, Colonial Heights
CONAWAY B. HASKINS, III - Deputy State Director, Office of Senator Jim Webb
DR. CHARELS MARANZANO, Jr. - Superintendent, Dinwiddie County Public Schools
GREG WERKHEISER - Executive Director, Phoenix Project
KIMBERLY WILLIS - Director, Petersburg Department of Social Services

Connect Southside is part of Connect Network, which has created similar sites for the Richmond and Rappahannock regions. The Connect Network is part of The Community Foundation and the Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence, and is coordinated in partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University.
