Kitten with rabies prompts Animal Control to set traps starting today
The P-I reports that a kitten adopted from a stray litter tested positive for rabies. As a result, Animal Control is setting traps to round up stray cats and dogs, starting in the Beauregard Avenue “area”, and perhaps extending elsewhere in the city. It is recommended that you not let your pet loose outside, to keep your pet from coming into contact with sick animals, and to ensure that animal control doesn’t trap your pet.

WRIC notes that stray cats are being euthanized immediately, due to lack of space at the shelter to hold them in quarantine. The only exception pertains to cats that have collars or that are ‘friendly’ — presently, only one cat is being held in the hopes its presumed owner will step forward to pick it up.
Folks — be sure to confine your pet!
