The leaves are falling, the leaves are falling - UPDATED
The folks at Public Works say that the following will be this year’s leaf collection schedule:
Zone 1, Nov 5-16, Dec 31-Jan 11
Zone 2, Nov 19-30, Jan 14-25
Zone 3, Dec 3-14, Jan 28-Feb 8
Zone 4, Dec 17-25, Feb 11-22.
So what are the zones?
While an updated map complete with 2007 dates is not available as of today, the 2006 map is here — I’m told the zone footprints are unchanged, so just cross out the 2006 dates and replace with those above. Of course, when the 2007 map is made available, an update will made.
Question: Do leaves make for good compost material?
I don’t think JUST leaves are good compost. Too acid. Grass clippings and kitchen waste are common compost starters.
