Christmas tree lighting in Old Towne

A Christmas tree will be lit in front of the Visitor’s Center on Friday, Nov 30. The stores will be open late awaiting St. Nicholas (who will receive children at Union Train Station after the lighting), and there will be carraige rides, carolers, church choirs, and refreshments!

The activities in general will be from 6pm-10pm. I’m not sure of the exact time of the tree lighting, but the tel for more info is 733-2352.

More details are in, thanks to Ron Moring of the Visitor’s Center:

The “Grand Illumination” is scheduled to take place between 6:45 pm and 6:50 pm.

From 7:15 - 8:30 pm, the Union Train Station will be the setting for Santa Land–a gift-giving visit with Santa for all children. Free cookies and cider and musical performances–to include the Petersburg Symphony–will be provided.

And many area businesses will be open until 10pm.

More details to come over the next week…
