The Petersburg City Council will conduct a joint meeting with the Prince George County Board of Supervisors on October 17, 2007, beginning at 7:30p.m., at the Union Train Station, 103 River Street. The RTD gives the following summary of the joint meeting:

A proposed $150 million mixed-use development straddling the Petersburg-Prince George County line cleared a key obstacle when officials from both localities agreed in principle this week on how to provide sewer service. Petersburg will directly serve the entire development, including the portion in the county. In exchange, it will be allocated 1 million gallons of water a day from the Appomattox River Water Authority that it is entitled to but doesn’t actually consume. The city will also convey an additional 100,000 gallons of wastewater from Prince George to the authority’s treatment plant.

The development referenced above is the one discussed here, Independence Village.
