On Petersburg School Board’s proposal to end public comment periods
Today’s P-I writes “Last night, Lewis was the board member who made a motion to remove a proposed policy change - which would have made the change to the meeting format permanent - from the agenda. Lewis’ motion to remove the proposed change was approved unanimously.”

I want to verify my understanding of the above — last night the School Board made a reversal, and as a result the 30-minute public comment periods will continue as before?
Someone suggested to me that their understanding of the P-I article is that the school board simply removed discussion of the policy change from the agenda.
Can someone who was present at last week’s meeting please clarify?
I was at the meeting and I agree that only the discussion was removed from the agenda. I am sure that it will be brought up at the upcoming PPS Supt.’s meeting and I believe that we, the citizenry will come to accept what has been done to be something that we can live with. I asterik this comment with an *If, and only if, citizens who call in with an issue be allowed to have that issue placed on the agenda. That way, parameters can be set and guidance offered by the board who we have elected to represent our concerns.
Brenda, you have it right. The item was removed from the agenda for that meeting but will be addressed again, in light of citizen concerns.
