Another opportunity for those who like to take pics
Want some photo credits? Check out the top of the Near West End News. Now hit ‘refresh’ a few times. See how the site name is overlayed over a set of neighborhood-specific pics? Very cool. And something we’d like to do on this site. Sooo, we’re inviting folks to submit a few images for use on this site’s top-of-page banner.
Final images will measure 890 pixels wide by 85 pixels tall. If you like to maintain creative control, send in an image already cropped to those dimensions. Otherwise, send us a standard-sized photo and we’ll see if we can’t tease an interesting 890×85 out of it.
Advice from John M in relation to this exercise: “I looked for images with a simple repetition and some kind of horizontal pull.”

Yippee! John M put together an initial set of Petersburg-specific banner images drawing from photos taken by myself and taberandrew that are loaded in the Flickr pool. John — you rock. And thanks to taberandrew for making his pics available under such a friendly license.
Please *do* feel free to send in your contributions though, as it would be great to add more images or to rotate images in/out seasonally or some such thing, and we’re all about offering ‘burgers a fun photo credit opportunity.
Many thanks (and photo credits) to:
* Ron Roller, for the image of the art chairs made by Petersburg High School students (shot taken during Nostalgiafest 2007)
* Mel Tally, for the cityscape of Petersburg’s Old Towne
By the way, the rights to Mel’s and Ron’s images lie soley with Mel and Ron, respectively. The images above are not to be reproduced or shared for any reason whatsoever without first obtaining permission from the photographers (we can put interested parties in touch with the photographers).
The pumpkin, Brickhouse Run, and Farmer’s Market ‘hat’ images I took during Nostalgiafest 2007.
