New police chief: Dixon
The P-I reports that the new police Chief, Maj. John Dixon, will take the helm Sept. 24. He is a 23-yr veteran of the Richmond Police Dept.

I’ve had an opportunity to work with Maj. Dixon and know him fairly well. I’m sure he will do a great job for you guys down there.
I met Maj. Dixon at council meeting on Tuesday night. Looking forward to seeing how he proceeds.
Well, I have followed the life of the Petersburg Police Department, even though I no longer live in Petersburg. I knew the former chief very well; however, I hope the police force and the community give the new chief a chance.
