The municipal golf course’s new name

= Dogwood Trace. Read about the name selection process in today’s P-I.

What the heck were they smoking?

This is why my taxes went up 20%?

There wouldn’t be just a “trace” of dogwoods if so many weren’t cut down to make room for that renovated money pit.

How do the 6 miles of irrigation factor in during voluntary/mandatory water restrictions?

While I might not have been 100% in favor of the golf course (I came late to the party so didn’t know much about it before it was over and done), I think that it is here and we should support it as it’s success would be a boon to the city.

That said, water use and restrictions are calculated figuring in those businesses that require water such as nurseries and golf courses. Selling grass is what they do. I’ve seen courses with browned out fairways as they will restrict watering to the tees and greens to do their part during water restrictions.

This is just bad timing as they will need some water while establishing the plantings.

Is it possible that the course has a well on site and will not be using as much municipal water as you’d think?

Regardless of whether one is for or against the course itself, IMO the name ‘Dogwood Trace’ has a classy ring to it and is a nice departure from names with a view to the past — it’s nice to see a place is being given to the present and the future.
