Dress Code decision in Petersburg
The School Board of the Petersburg Public Schools approved tonight, on second reading, by a 5 to 1 vote, with School Board Chair Kenneth Pritchett absent, the Student Dress and Grooming/Uniform Dress Code for the 2007-8 School Year.
Changes from the earlier draft were: exempting Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start students from being required to wear the uniform and removing a clause that had prohibited excessive jewelry.
The uniform will be required of K-5 students only for the 07-8 school year. It will become mandatory for the Petersburg middle schools in the 08-08 school year.
More details and the full final version of the policy will be made available tomorrow. The draft policy minus the changes that were made tonight is available on the PPS website homepage, lower left corner.

I think this is the draft version (the version “minus the changes made tonight”)referenced above.
The P-I provides great coverage of the school board’s progress in relation to developing a dress code.
