Connect Southside seeks Coordinator
Are you interested in nonprofits, your local community and looking for the perfect part-time job?
Connect Southside, a new information tool and resource for the nonprofit community, is now launching to serve Petersburg, Chester, Colonial Heights, Hopewell and the counties of Dinwiddie, Prince George, Sussex and portions of Chesterfield County. The project seeks a high-energy, committed professional to coordinate the work. Connect Southside is part of a nationally recognized consortium of community-building initiatives that includes Connect Richmond and Connect Rappahannock. The project has broad community support and funding from the Cameron Foundation.
The job includes: community relations; writing a weekly electronic newsletter on nonprofit issues; managing simple Web-based communications tools; presenting to and
working with nonprofit and government leaders and managers and organizing events to market the project. Interests in nonprofits, social policy and public policy and community-building preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Attention to detail and proven writing and proofreading skills are essential. Familiarity with the Southside region is preferred. Residents of the area will be given priority in hiring. The successful candidate will receive training and support from a team in Richmond. The position is open now but the start date can be as late as September 15.
This part-time position averages 20 hours per week and offers professional office and
meeting space at the brand new Nonprofit Resource Center at the Appomattox Regional Library in Hopewell. The option to telecommute and associated expenses/equipment provided. Salary is $17,000 and includes limited benefits, such as sick time and 457 investment opportunity.
