City of Petersburg to retain outside consultant to study City operations
Last night Petersburg’s City Council considered a resolution “authorizing and directing the city administration to retain an outside consultant to conduct a comprehensive study of the City’s operations.” The resolution stated that the study should be completed by December 31, 2007. The resolution passed unanimously.

First “Real Talk Teen Forum” held yesterday
Hosted by the Petersburg PTA, the Petersburg Vibe, the Young Democrats of Petersburg, and the Greater Richmond United Way, the forum provided teens an opportunity to share their views on†education.† Future forums will focus on home life, peer pressure, music and television, and drugs and sex. Opera “The Edge of Glory” June 15-17
The†opera is†about an African-American family in†reconstruction-era Petersburg, Virginia. Commissioned by Petersburg Symphony Orchestra in 2000, it has never been performed on stage before.† The performance will be†at Petersburg High School [map], June 15 and 16 at 8pm, and June 17 at 4pm.

Update on school uniforms
Parents of PPS students may purchase their 2007-8 elementary school children’s uniform clothing from any source so long as the bottoms are navy blue and the tops are white.†
