Animated map of when homes were built

CHPN†has done it again, pointed out†a really cool tool: †Trulia Hindsight is an animated map of homes in the United States. The animations use the year the properties were built to show the growth of streets, neighborhoods and cities over time.† Click here for an animation for the Petersburg area.

OldTown 1850

Above†is a snapshot†centered on†Virginia State University on the north and Old Town on the south at 1850.

Other animations for Petersburg: †North part of Petersburg, South part of Petersburg.

If you want to check out the animations for other areas nearby, you can left click on the map screen and drag it around to where you want it.† To check out other parts of the country, just key in the zip code or city of interest in the search box at the top of the map.

From the site’s FAQ: The information comes mainly from property assessor records that have been aggregated, consolidated, cleaned up and processed so they can be used on a map.
