World Premier: “Mataoka - A Pocahontas Story” at Sycamore Rouge

A Native American girl from the Powhatan tribe finds herself in a world of European traditions, history, and storytelling completely different from anything she knows. Is she Pocahontas? Is she Rebecca? Or is she something else entirely? A fascinating look at the power of storytelling across cultures and generations.

Written by Matthew Shifflett; Directed by Beth Von Kelsch

On stage at Sycamore Rouge April 20-May 5, Fridays & Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 2 pm

Tickets $15-$18

We attended the talk given by Matthew Shifflett at Sycamore Rouge last week and it was very informative.

It seems not is all we have been told about Pocahontas or in other words…. the history is not as cut and dried as we think.

I Look forward to seeing this play and Shifflett’s take on the story.
