Gabriella Daniels, a Walnut Hill Elementary School†kindergarten student, daughter of Linard and Elena Daniels, has won Honorable Mention in competition against students nationwide in the 2006 Project Wisdom Essay Contest.

Fort Lee Growth Management Plan
The attached†presentation was presented at last Thursday’s BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure)-related meeting.† It outlines the questions that consulting firm RKG Associates will seek to provide answers to, in an effort to help the areas surrounding Fort Lee prepare for the base’s expansion.† The study results are due to be released late summer to early fall.† Click here to read the .ppt file.

David Canada†indicated that 1)†the City†is close to identifying a new fire chief, and 2) the City has initiated the interview process in relation to hiring a new police chief.

GRTC Transit System raising fare on Richmond-Petersburg route
GRTC is raising the fare for the #95 Express Route bus, which runs daily from downtown Petersburg to downtown Richmond. The one-way fare will increase to $2.50 effective June 24. The current fare is $1.75. GRTC will be holding a public hearing at 6 p.m. April 25 at the Ettrick-Matoaca Library, 4501 River Road.
